Mother Root makes ACV-activated, non-alcoholic aperitifs that actually make you feel great. They’re naturally bold and strong drinks that serve you up a dose of good feelings, whether you’re rooting down solo on the sofa or hosting friends. Made for the moments just before a meal, our drinks are all about anticipation. By celebrating the independent spirits and wise old souls, we want to inspire people to feel whole and happy (not just well and good). We’re here to take life curiously, find joy in the in-between moments, and dive deeper into life.

When you think “ginger drink,” you might imagine a sweet fizzy ginger ale, a spicy ginger beer, or perhaps a short wellness shot. But fiery and fresh Mother Root Ginger offers something different. Inspired by age-old methods of aperitif wine making – maceration, blending and sweetening for balance – we use apple cider vinegar, ginger and honey to make a complex, bold and totally unique ginger drink. No additives, no preservatives, nothing you’ve never heard of. Just four all-natural whole ingredients.

Adding vinegar to drinks was first seen in Ancient Greece and these were used as a health tonic, supporting immune health and aiding digestion. It’s why all our aperitifs are activated by apple cider vinegar – our secret weapon that means each sip is actually good for you. Think of vinegar as a seasoning. Thanks to its acidity, our apple cider vinegar magnifies flavour by brightening, balancing and enhancing ingredients like fiery ginger and mellow honey blossom that we use in our Ginger aperitif.

Mother Root was inspired by founder Bethan’s 10+ years of working in the wine business. She loved how a glass of something delicious at the end of the day helped people connect and unwind. When she was pregnant (and thirsty), she wanted to create a vibrant and complex drink that helped bring this feeling to the world of alcohol-free and the first iteration was born in her Peckham kitchen. And now that ginger drink has reached the Dragons’ Den.

The episode airs on Thursday 2nd, so tune in at 8pm on BBC One to see how Bethan and Alice fare against The Dragons. We’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes updates on out socials, so make sure you’re following our Instagram and Tik Tok
